DJ Tavonne started deejaying in 1984 when he saw Run-DMC on MTV. Since then he practiced and honed his skills until he got his first gig, doing remixes, on the local WJDY AM station. He worked and mixed his way to his first on-air weekend slot.
After burning up the turn tables there, he was hijacked by the hottest station at the time, OC 104 FM, to rock the “Lunch Mix” and the “5 o’ clock Drive”. The experience led him to become the Mix Coordinator for Magic 98.9 FM and lock down his own show. His following grew and had to satisfy the masses. Giving the people what they wanted steered him to Power 101.7 FM. There he hypnotized the area and kept them partying as he pre-gamed every Friday and Saturday night!
The real recognize real and Tavonne accepted the opportunity to become the Music Director and Mix-show Coordinator for the new music champs of the DMV, 97.5 FM; something he has planned and prepared for since Rock Box. Listen to him on his Old School Mix Tape show.
